Love and care seems like a basic element for everyone. We study hard and work hard not only for ourselves, but also for the people who love and care us. We will even try our best to not disappoint them. I always wonder what would a person be if he/she grown up in an environment that is without love. By reading the stories “Thank You, Ma’m” by Langston Hughes and “The Quickening” by Lisa Interollo. I realized how love is important for a child. Roger is a thirteen years old boy and he is the main character from “Thank You, Ma’m.” once he tried to steal a big women’s purse on the street but was caught by the women. The women who names Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones did not let him run away, instead, she bought him to her house. Surprisingly, Mrs. Jones treated Roger as good as her own son. She fed him and let him washed his dirty face.
