Modern Warfare
Roger Trinquier was an amazing French writer in the 1960’s. In 1964, he wrote Modern Warfare, which was a very accurate description of the future. He predicted that the way wars would be conducted would change drastically, stating that “Warfare will became an interlocking system of actions- political, economical, psychological, military- that aims at the overthrow of the established authority in a country and its replacement by another regime, not two militaries fighting for land”(Trinquier,6). These wars would change from traditional armies battling it out in a field, to terrorism and guerilla warfare. ... Trinquiers book discussed three aspects of modern war: preparation for war, political and military conduct in war, and carrying the war to the enemy.
The first section of Modern Warfare is about preparing for the new type of war.
