passage analysis of heart of darkness
The Epitome of Racism The passage analysis theme is about racism, a topic that is considered very important in the world of today. But more importantly, is the subject of racism towards mainly Africans that this analysis is mainly about. My passage analysis will be based on the main topic of racism of Africans in which I have selected a newspaper article, and several key quotes from Joseph Conrad’s book called Heart of Darkness. ... While in the book Heart of Darkness, the first racist example can be found on page 23, “Therefore he whacked the old nigger mercilessly, while a big crowd of his own people watched him, thunderstruck, till some man, - I was told the chief’s son, - in desperation at hearing the old chap yell, made a tentative jab with a spear at the white man – and of course it went quite easy between the shoulder-blades. ... My personal background was Tanzania, which is deep in the heart of Africa and some of these issues have a lasting impression on me as well.
