Personal Literacy History As a child I hated to read books. Although I hated to read and write, I was a very good student. I got good grades in all subjects except English. English was my least favorite subject and to some degree, it still is today. I would read a little bit but only for school work. My childhood memories of reading and books are almost a nightmare. Writing is more or less a horror to me as well. I was the student who sat in the back of my English class and doodled during the lessons on proverbs, verbs, adjectives, nouns and so forth because it just didn’t make sense to me.
