Technology that is available in my line of work is constantly changing, both from the clerical aspect, and from the clinical aspect. What is offered is far beyond what one dentist could facilitate in one office, the technology varies from the different types of specialties. ... The changes that I have experienced over the last 15 years are incredible, there is no doubt that technology has taken a large role in dentistry. ... As you can see, the technology has changed tremendously, and the impact it has on my job is great. I am still learning all the functions of the software, I am constantly going to training seminars to learn how to use this technology effectively.
The clinical side of technology in dentistry changes as fast as new computers come out to the market. In the clinical side, the technology that comes out makes dentistry close to painless, no more three appointment root canals, a root canal can be done in one appointment. I speak of the root canal technology because it is probably the most dreaded procedure to be done in a dental office, but now patients are saying that they are painless, and that they are surprised at how quickly the procedure was completed.
