Canterbury Tales:
     Geoffrey Chaucer was born around 1342 to a middle-class family. ... “Canterbury Tales” was by far the most highly acclaimed, best written, and most popular of all of Chaucer’s poetry. ... He is best known for his characterizations of every character as well as his links between each of the tales, as well as other poems, which he has written.
     “Canterbury Tales” were written in London, England during the Middle English Period. ... The most widely known literature of this time period includes Geoffrey Chaucer’s “The Canterbury Tales,” the anonymous “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight,” and Thomas Malory’s “Morte d’Arthur.” Canterbury Tales was never finished due to Chaucer’s death in 1400, but it was published right after he died. ... Nevill Coghill translated the book into Modern English in 1951, but “The Canterbury Tales” were left unchanged since he wrote them so well.
      The setting of the Canterbury Tales is of supreme importance to the greatness of this poem. Set in the late fourteenth century, “Canterbury Tales” are able to capture the essence and greatness of this society.
