For the past week I have monitored my media intake and I have to say I was surprised. I was surprised by the total number of hours watching television, listening to the radio, and reading books. I have never considered myself to be someone who spent hours in front of the television or wasting the day not doing anything productive, but over the past seven days I have realized that might not be the truth. Growing up television has not been a big part of my life. Just recently, at the age of twenty my family and I, started to receive cable. My parents have always encouraged me and my brother to find other ways to entertain ourselves such as; playing with friends, sports, and reading. One would think otherwise if you would look at the total number of hours I spent watching the tube. Threw out the past week I have spent fourteen hours and forty five minutes just watching television.
