‘Cus I got you, and you got me In the novel, Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck tells us a story of how love and hope kept two men living during hard times. They had each other to look after one another, and a dream to live for. Something as simple as someone to care about can give a man the will to live. “Guys like us, that work on ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world. They got no family. They don’t belong no place. They ain’t got nothing to look ahead to.” When George paints us a picture of the ugly life that they have to live, it doesn’t seem like anyone could have much to life for.
