Banning Hundguns

As the United Stated changed from an undeveloped, underpopulated and underpoliced frontier civilization into a modern, industrialized country, one vestige remainded - the gun. While people descarded their pliws, bonnets, and kerosene lamps, they failed to discard their guns. Guns, especially handguns, are still very much in use today. Since 1963, guns have killed more americans than were killed in World War II. More than 35 millon handguns are in circulation, and Americans keep on buying them at a rate of one every 13 secons. At the current rate, over 50 millon handguns will be in circulation in 50 years. The US has the highest rate of murder by guns in the world. In 1990 alone, guns were the cause of death in 64% of the 23000 murders commited in the U.S.
