A Separate Peace I think that A Separate Peace has a central theme. I think the central theme is friendship. This book was about a friendship between the main characters Finny and Gene. I think theme is about being friends forever. The two main characters showed their friendship throughout the book, but were also competing with each other. Finny and Gene knew each other for a long time. They both loved doing things together. I think both were jealous of each other in what they were good at. Finny kept Gene from academic schoolwork and Gene was always trying to be as good as Finny in sports. They had a good friendship and enjoyed being together. The friendship was so good Finny didn’t want to believe that Gene shoved him off the branch.
