When I think about how I learned to read, several memories begin to flood my mind. I think sometimes, that even now, I am still learning to read. For example, I can still pick up a book and know how to read sentences and pronounce words, but the writing styles have changed to meet the needs of the readers and some of the rules of grammar have been changed or added to since I began to read. My adventure in reading began when I was a small child being read to before bedtime. I would listen attentively to each word as it came from my mothers mouth, repeating the words in my head as she read. ... Most kids read fairly well. ... I felt bad for them because you could hear some of the other students whisper comments and laugh at them because they couldnt read.
