Paranoia: A Character Skech We were supposed to meet Carter in Aspen Colorado the next morning, at the park off 2nd street. He would not tell us where we were going until we got there because he was so paranoid that ‘they’ were looking for him; and would hear our conversation. We pulled into the parking lot the next morning, and got out of the car to wait. Immediately Carter, who had probably been watching for our car a few blocks up, pulled in behind us. Glancing around to make sure that nobody was following him, he said, “follow me, we’ll stop and look at the map on our way out of town”. We pulled over at the Gasmart; Carter got out and, after checking his surroundings, walked over for introductions. “This is your cousin Carter” my aunt Jane said. “Hi Carter” “Hi everybody” A siren come on behind us, Carter jumped and turned around to look; the police car sped past without stopping. I turned and looked at Carter, His face was pale, and his hands shaking as sweat began to drip from his brow. Carter opened the map he was holding, I could hear the map tremble under the guidance of his hands. He set it down on his trunk so we could read it.
