Communaut de Travail Boimondau Contemporary Management
Founded in 1941 by Marcel Barbu, the Communauté de Travail Boimondau, a company that manufactured and sold watchcases around the world. Boimondau’s was renowned for its watchcases, however; also its objectives and its organisation structure became world-renowned. Boimondau was the first to and largest of the worker-owned and worker-managed communauté de travail. Barbu’s unconventional thinking introduced the communauté organisation structure, which included all workers, their wives and their children. ... The systems and structure that the communauté uses is closely related to the concepts in the theory of structuration designed by Anthony Giddens. ... However, the neighbour groups bring with them the history of the communauté, codes of behaviour, belief and value systems, ways of organising and proceeding and of interpreting the ideas. ... As the communauté precedes it re-enacts the structure, thus replicating it and helping it to form part of a practice, which will help determine how future meetings will be conducted. ... These are the systems such as the communauté families, peer groups, or councils, either at a face-to-face level or existing via networks over space and time. For example, the communauté council of chiefs of neighbour group can be regarded as a system in having a life, entities that move in it, and social relationships among those in it, with both equilibrium and change occurring. ... The communauté is a structure; something fixed and established (physical structures and procedures), and is one that allows the systems to operate in.
