Have You Ever Considered The Consequences For Your Decisions? It was about 11:45 P.M. when I looked at the clock. The emergency room is so cold with not so many people in it on a Sunday night. Even so, nurses and doctors never seem to have time to stay put. I can hear the clock ticking as I hold my hands together praying for my father’s consciousness. Does the world around me make any sound or is it me being careless about what is going on out there? As I search my memories, it takes me to a conversation I had about a month ago. My father looked furious and said, “Huy, how dare you hold that cigarette? From now on, I do not; I repeat I do not want to see you smoke again!!” I was seventeenth; I could not say anything back to my father although part of me believed that he was unreasonable. Earlier that day, I was hanging out with couple of friends in a pool hall which was in a Vietnamese shopping center. I figured that my father must have seen me smoking through the glass door when he passed by. The bell jiggled on top of the door, I turned around to look and there was my father. I can see that his eyes were paying no attention to anyone but me.
