Jane Eyre
Novel vs. Movie
Jane Eyre, the movie and the novel, is a story of the life of a strong, passionate young woman, who survives an awful childhood to become a governess. ... Jane leaves Rochester, but after much thinking, she returns to him, which lead to a reunion that allowed her to experience true happiness. The basic story line of the novel and the movie, was the same. Many found that the novel was much more descriptive, which could have lead to different views left to the reader’s imagination. This allowed the readers to picture their own version of Jane Eyre on their own. If the reader’s own ideas of the novel matched with the ones of the movie, than the movie was very effective and portrayed Charlotte Bronte’s idea. It is believed by many that the movie did capture Charlotte Bronte’s ideas from the novel.
