The only two facts stated were, “The battle against hate crimes has always been bipartisan” and the definition of the hate crimes statute, “ The Federal Hate Crimes Statute prohibits certain hate crimes committed on the basis of race, color, religion or national origin”.
On the Con side I was hard pressed to find any facts stated except when she wrote that President Bill Clinton called for a White House conference on Hate Crimes in November 1997.
The Pro side is of the opinion that the government needs to aid the states in prosecuting hate crimes and that we, as a country should teach respect for diversity and tolerance.
The Con side believes that if we allow the expansion of our hate crime laws it will lead to it being a crime just to hate a certain group, she also thinks that it favors some, mostly white heterosexual males and is unfair and unconstitutional.
