Essay 2
Yahweh and Baal differ in their demands and relationships of those who worship them. Baal was a more efficient god for many of the Israelites and Canaanites. This efficiency came from social acceptance and lack of trust in Yahweh. Yahweh was Israel’s God who delivered them from Egypt. The Israelites discarded Yahweh’s blessings and conformed to the Canaanites deities of Baal.
The worship of Baal consisted of social acceptance and efficiency. Many of the followers of Baal continued worship because it was widely accepted by the Canaanites, and because they could control Baal.
