Opinion: Intellectual Property
With so much information going across the Internet, there have been a lot of talks about intellectual properties being infringed upon. ... So what exactly is intellectual property? According to Indiana University’s Intellectual Property Policy, intellectual property is defined as “any invention, creation, innovation, discovery, or improvement…” (“Definition”). With intellectual property defined, should one be able to take his intellectual property or ideas anywhere he goes? This paper will briefly discuss my opinion in answering the question.
From the textbook, I know that copyright, patents, trademarks, and other intellectual property issues are governed by both government legislations and the common law (Turban 473). If I have an intellectual property, I would also like it to be protected by these laws.
