... There are also ancient heroes too, there is a well-known story about an ancient hero named Beowulf, and he is much like our modern day heroes but a lot different too.
Beowulf was a Geat from Sweden, who heard about “A powerful monster, living down/In the darkness” (Lines 1&2), and when night came the monster known, as Grendel would come to a town named Herot, and killed are their warriors. When Beowulf heard about Grendel, he came to the rescue, he “Would sail across the sea to Hrothgar/Now when help was needed” (Lines 115&116). When Beowulf faces Grendel, Beowulf rips off his arm with his mighty strength, and “Grendel escaped, /But wounded as he was could flee to his den, /His miserable marsh, /Only to die, to wait for the end/Of all his days” (Lines 500-503).
