Business Updates are mini briefings on a company in the news. The company’s operations can be Canadian, multi-national, or international in scope. Specific items to be presented in each case are as follows: 1 - A brief overview of the organization’s history and operational scope; 2 - A “macro” review of the organization’s current financial performance; 3 - The current newsworthy item or topic associated with the organization being discussed; 4 - A discussion as to how the situation relates to course concepts learned to date, and to today’s topic, from a business, operational or managerial perspective. Business updates are to be presented in a Powerpoint presentation format. Class time allotted for the presentation of both situations, plus discussion and instructor comments, is 20 minutes.
