He is coming towards the end of his life and has a view of hopelessness. He does not care if he is alone at night because he has gone through many nights like this and has gone through a lot worse times in his life. This is a very depressing poem. The poem shows the speaker walking through the city late at night or after curfew(1). The mood of the poem is very depressing in lines, such as,” I have walked out in rain-and back in rain”(2), which to me is that he started out a bad life and has gotten out of it, but then gets back into it.
