The Souls of Black Folk, by W.E.B Du Bois, covers many topics of what African Americans have experienced and will experience in the near future. Du Bois’ tells us what it is like to be black in America beginning in the twentieth century as well as in the segregated south. He also brings forth the views of other races towards black people. ... This is evident when Du Bois writes: “The teachers in these institutions came not to keep the Negroes in the their place, but to raise them out of the defilement of the place where slavery has wallowed them. ... Du Bois mentions an “American” view of where Blacks would usually end up. This is evident when Du Bois writes: “The average American can easily conceive of a rich land awaiting development and filled with black laborers. ... Du Bois’ technique of revealing the struggles and accomplishments of African Americans is broadcasted in a sophisticated way of fashion within the book.
