California! By Dana Fuller Ross In the new territory of California, the discovery of gold attracted swarms of people inflamed by their lust, willing to do whatever it takes to get it. To protect the righteous and bring down the wicked of Sacramento Valley, our hero Sheriff Rick Miller strives to keep peace and hunt down Shorty and Slim, the murderers of innocent citizens including his beloved wife. Teamed with the Sheriff was his old friend the former wagon master, Whip Holt, along with Ralph Hamilton the newfound prosecutor. Sheriff Miller also re-encounters a former friend from Texas, Melissa Austin. A beautiful and strong redhead who has persevered from being knocked out and forced into a life of prostitution under Big George, a saloon keeper as well as another villain whom she helps bring to justice. During this time Melissa and the Sheriff fell in love which eventually led to marriage. Previously, Melissa had joined a wagon train going to California, that included her old pal Danny and his new wife Heather whom were struggling to keep their marriage together from the strain of searching for gold. Also, on the wagon train were brother and sister John and Phyllis Greg and their father Randy whom in his old age loves to tell stories. Later, John was shot by Shorty and Slim so Phyllis with her father moved in Ralph Hamilton’s house where she worked as his maid.
