“Religion as a Form of Social Control”
Brandi Smith
I believe religion was formed because society needed a way to control the people. ... Religion was formed to bring the people together and formally establish “justified” rules of behavior. The definition given by Max Moore PhD exemplifies what I have stated:
“The core of any religion consists of faith and worship. ... However, the essence of religion and religious styles of thinking is faith and worship rather than any belief in a god. ... A way to mold and form behavior, to instill in its worshipers the values of the leader. ... Religion helped form the constitution for our nation and for many others, which still provides a guideline of socially acceptable behaviors and punishments for deviants of these guidelines.
