· Xenotransplantation's number one priority is to shrink the number of people on waiting lists for organs, making it cheaper because it would be easy to find each patient's organs (Goddard et al 1-2). · Currently, there are 70,000 Americans waiting for organs each year with only 10, 000 donors. Therefore, we need a fast and efficient way to take care of this problem, and pig's organs would be a solution that would allow an unlimited number of organs available for transplant (CBSNEWS.COM 2). · The use of pigs as a source of organs would provide an almost unlimited supply which could be available at all times.This would allow patients to plan surgery at the right time and have organs readily accessible in cases of emergency (Goddard et al 1).
