From the very beginning of the novel Fifth Business, it was apparent that Dunstable Ramsey and Percy Staunton were very different in character. From their appearance to their personalities it was hard to decide if they were enemies or friends. Percy was the good looking rich boy who was always dressed in the latest styles and most expensive clothes who could do no wrong in the eyes of the community. Dunstable Ramsey, better known as Dunny, was the quiet sensible boy who was always neat and tidy, never fashionably dressed because he grew up in a very strict Presbyterian household were money was not wasted on such luxuries. Dunny feels remorse for Mrs. Dempster getting hit with a snowball even though he didn't throw it. It seems that everything else that goes wrong for Dunny can be linked back to the day Mrs. Dempster was struck with the snowball. This is another difference betweenPercy and Dunny. Percy never let on that he was the one who threw the snowball and he didn't feel guilty that it struck an innocent bystander instead of its destinated target.
