Women are important and should be treated with respect in day-to-day life. They play many different roles and class in society. It is a common topic, which is used by many authors. In “The Crysalids” the author explains how various women who are deviations, including the mothers of them are strong even if they are faced with torture and or death. Mothers of women who have been classified as blasphemies have been strong for their child through out their whole life and have been there whenever they are needed. One lady is Aunt Harriet. She stood up for what was right. When going to the house of Emily Storm, to ask if they could switch babies so that she could receive a certificate. Even though they denied her that right and started yelling at her for coming to a “God fearing house,” (Wyndham, page 72) she started to cry and at that moment she responded “I shall pray,” she said. “Yes I shall pray,” She paused, then she went on, her voice steady and harder,“ I shall pray God to send charity into hideous world, and sympathy for the weak, and love for the unhappy and unfortunate. I shall as Him if it is indeed. His will that a child should suffer and its soul be dammed for a little blemish of the body…And I shall pray Him, too, that the hearts of the self-righteous may be broken…” (Wyndham 73) The next day they had found Aunt Harriet near the river dead in her own pool of blood. Unlike Aunt Harriet there is another women who does not go to the extant of killing herself, but she does make a number of sacrifices.
