Situation Analysis Nature of Demand The demand that Ford was filling was an affordable, comfortable, sports utility vehicle that had Firestone tires a supplier of Ford since 1895. Bridgestone/Firestone had a positive relationship with Ford for over a century while supplying standard rubber tires to Ford’s cars, SUV’s, and trucks. Firestone was filling the demand for auto makers tires. Extent of Demand Nature of Competition Goodyear and Michelin along with other small competitors filled the gap that Firestone had created with its problems during the “Ford Explorer Tire Disaster.” Goodyear worked with Ford to create a contract after Firestone’s CEO ended the relation ship with Ford in May of 2001.
