“War Comes to America”

Finally, in December 1938 when asked if America should strengthen the army, 85% said, “Yes”. ... Soon after, Roosevelt send a telegram to him and to Mussolini asking for the respect of the independence of free countries and to please avoid war, but Hitler thought of this as a joke. ... Now World War II had begun in Europe. ... Soon after this, Italy joined the war and Germany forced France to surrender. ... A memorandum was sent to Hull from Japan which contained many monstrous accusations against the US, charging it among things with the scheming for the extension of war, preparing to attack Germany and Italy, and ignoring Japans sacrifices in the fort years of the China affair.
