I think a lot of the Tao make sense to me. I feel I can have a good understanding of the Taoist’s feel for simplicity and their humbleness. I feel confident in their understanding in how they don’t worry about things as much as we do and they kind of go with the flow (figuratively speaking. Some things though that left me with a little bit of puzzlement were a lot of their paradoxes. For instance in number seventy-two when they used the quote “He teaches without a teaching”, I’m not sure what was meant or how it could be truthful. The other thing about Taoism I don’t really understand their beliefs, because from the readings sound more like values and ethics and not so much beliefs. I think the readings relate to Confucianism. Taoism is a naturalistic and non-violent philosophy. Taoism believes in salvation through wisdom. Confucianism placed the philosopher at the top of the social order of China. Taoism also placed a high value on knowledge.
