Uniforms? Dress Code? “Yeah right” is what most students say when they are getting ready to go back to school. Many students do not like the idea of having to wear uniforms. However, even though the students do not like the idea of having to look like their peers many public schools are starting to adapt the tradition of private schools by implementing a dress code or uniform policy. The famous saying of “clothes make the man” is something that is often quoted, but does it apply in the schools? Some administrators seem to think so and have decided to tighten up their uniform policies. I on the other hand don’t agree with these administrators. I don’t believe that uniforms affect the way a student learns. When a student enters a school they know what they have come to do and that is learn, not to focus on who has on what and what type of clothing. Many students express themselves through their clothing and having that taken away is something that a school should not be allowed to do.
