Barbarossa Reading Issue: The author argues that the the basic strategy behind Hitler's attack on Russia was to destroy the country altogether - militarily, politically, socially, and economically. Evidence: The author uses several sources. The majority of these, however, are secondary and lack in variety. These include Winston Churchill's book "The World crisis" as well as Barbara Tuchman's book "The Guns of August." Although some of these books are written by military strategists and primary figures, such as Churchill, there is still some room for bias by the less reliable sources. Argument: The author describes how hitler prepared his army for the attack and that the entire campaign was begun with a surprise attack on June 23.
