I believe that I have a number of strengths that is a great asset to me as a teacher. I am hardworking, and am motivated by challenges. I am confident of my abilities as a teacher. I am a teacher because I love to learn. I have no bucket of knowledge from which I will fill young minds with everything they need to know. I love learning and showing my students how they can love learning as well. My goal is not for them to know a million facts, but to know how to learn anything. I see learning as a process of making connections, connecting pieces of information into the larger whole. I desired to be a teacher who allows students to connect what they learn in class with their lives. I also want them to see how their lives connect with the community that surrounds them. It is then that we will leave the restrictive bounds of a teacher and isolated students and become a community of learners. I have held a number of leadership positions, which have provided excellent experience for the responsibilities of a Teacher. I am completing my fourth year as a Secondary World Geography/Special Education teacher in the East Baton Rouge Public Schools System. During this time I have been a coach, a mentor and Club Sponsor.
