During the years of the Civil War and Reconstruction, America saw many changes in the traditions that had held it together for more than a century. These constitutional and social developments spurred on a partial revolution of changes to the government and to the social structure that had become accepted. This growing revolution spawned the birth of many new ideas and practices; unfortunately not all of them were taking a step in the direction of progress. The beginnings of a revolution are revolutionary thoughts. Document G shows the cartoon of a black man voting. This idea was revolutionary because it had never happened before. Also revolutionary are the many changes that were happening in the government.
