Jim Carrey
The story of Jim Carrey is like that of the phoenix rising from the ashes. Jim Carrey rose from the depths of working in cleaning factories when he was 14 to shooting multimillion-dollar movies just 2 decades later and "its still childlike goofiness that defines Carreys appeal" (Knelman 1999). Without even a high school education, Jim Carrey managed to gain fame and glory through hard work and determination.
"James Eugene Carrey was born on January 17th, 1962 in the town of Newmarket, Ontario"(Jim Carrey 2003) as the youngest of four to the lower middle-class catholic family of Percy and Kathleen family.
It was obvious to Percy Carrey, a "gregarious character"(Knelman 1999) and a former lead Clarinet and Saxophonist in a jazz band that his son Carrey was a talented joker and had inherited his sense of comedy. Jim was constantly making his friends (who he had few of) and family laugh at his hilarious antics, and "rubbery face"(Knelman 1999).
When Jim was old enough to start school, his family moved into the "Toronto Subarb of Willowdale"(Knelman 1999) where he attended the catholic school of Blessed Trinity.
At first Jim did not fit in, according to Knelman (1999) he recalled about his childhood. ... Jim gladly accepted and performed a hilarious show for all his classmates. ... Jim wants to be a comedian when he grows up. ... ) After this moment, Jim was determined on becoming a comedian, and would spend hours in front of a mirror at his home, imitating his favourite celebrities and making funny faces.
