Police officers involved in severe beatings, fatal chokings, unjustified shootings, unnecessarily rough physical treatment towards minority groups. Historically minorities, mainly blacks, have been victims of police brutality. ... Within some of these minority communities there is an air of a dominant white society maintaining race discrimination by use of violence against those in minority communities through police officers. ... Police officers are only human and they do have prejudices. ... The fact that there are some officers that recognize and express these attitudes opens the way for racial and ethnic police abuse. Police also engage in non-violent acts as well. ...
