School Uniforms
Although many middle school and high school students would disagree, uniforms in schools are a positive solution to many problems. When most first hear of the idea of wearing certain clothing to school, they hate it right from the start. But then after they give it some serious thought and consideration, while weighing the pros and cons, they realize the positive influences that school uniforms can possess. The uniforms could do much to help school behavior as well as academics. For example, every morning boys and especially girls scavenge their bedrooms up and down for something decent to wear to school. Now this may take them up to twenty-five minutes on certain occasions, however, with school uniforms one would not have to worry about that problem anymore, making mornings much easier for everyone. This is just one of the many benefits school uniforms would have on a community. Some more potential benefits of uniforms is a decrease in violence and theft, prevention of gang members from wearing gang colors and insignia at school, instilling students with discipline, helping parents and students resist peer pressure, helping students concentrate on their school work, and helping staff recognize intruders in school (U. ...
It used to be that if students were seen traveling to and from school in uniforms, people would think that they went to a private or religious school. That is not the case in the United States any longer, because hundreds of schools have adopted mandatory and voluntary uniform policies in just the past few years (School).
