A religious awakening
A moment in the life of Noddy, Heatu, and Bhanu
It was the year of the lord 2010
Three old friends met once again,
To talk of things and this and that
In a pub by the sea where the beer was flat
They spoke of things and times gone by
Of schooldays and preps and going down khudsides,
Of honours won in times begone
When their bodies were lithe their spirits on song.
As the beers disappeared at the speed of light
Bhanu got philosophical, it was a sight,
Holding fort on pleasures of the vine
Every bottle he claimed as "mine"!
Grapes of love or so he said
Are the reason why the world was made,
The lord in his wisdom did provide
For his flock on earth some respite!
Worship Bacchus the goddess of wine
Bhanu said solemnly, no hint of a smile,
For to her all humanity owes a debt
For without her, evenings we will be sipping sherbet!
With Nervous glances and perspiration
The trio considered the repurcussion,
Evenings spent over pots of tea
Hangovers and binges a distant memory!
The mood was sombre in the group
Images of prohibition quite wrecked the mood
A fate too cruel to even contemplate
the group shuddered then got up and paid.
The moral of the story my friends is clear to see
A Healthy lifestyle is not for me
To live in denial from pleasures of life
Then who cares if we die early or at 95!
