a short story about a one angsty girl and a blizzard

It was only days after the blizzard. Twenty-five inches of soft virgin snow lie in anticipation for the plows to come and cut through it, carving geologic structures out of ice in a matter of hours. What was once a gleaming white landscape will become a thrashed and torn terrain, dull and gray. Puddles of melted filthy snow scatter the bleached hills of a golf course that is also a backyard for the northwest facing townhomes of Fairway Falls. A few abandoned trash can lids sit in a heap of rejection and thousands of footprints dot the landscape like a child's fingerprints in Saran-wrapped deli meat. The neighborhood kids had temporarily reclaimed the frozen golf course as their playground, but the time had come to give it back. The time had come to return to school. "Goddammit!" A foot submerged in an icy puddle of water rarely prompts exclamations of joy, but Josephine was particularly unhappy on this February morning. First Sofia bails on me and now this shit. My life sucks! She crunched through the hardened snow up the hill and back home to change out of her quickly freezing boots. It's a good thing these things only cost me five bucks. I can't imagine spending almost a hundred dollars on shoes. Suckers. The threads of her stylishly slashed fishnets were starting to get soggy and unravel in an unintended way. Now the whole outfit had to change.
