Briefing Paper to the Chair of the Governing Body Regarding Budget Deficit for |Academic Year 03/04

Introduction
Grange School is an inner city secondary school located in an area of social depravation. ... The school management and Governing Body have a legal and moral duty to the students and wider community to ensure education provided is of the highest standard. ...

Identified Budget Deficit

The deficit is due to increased staff costs, national insurance contributions and falling pupil numbers. This could have serious implications for the school, seriously damaging the schools academic achievement targets and will require careful management by all those involved.

Options

Should the Governing Body decide to close the unit this will greatly increase the need for Learning Support Assistants. ...
Some savings will be made in the closing of the unit in relation to maintenance and fuel costs however; they are insignificant and will not address the identified deficit.
