The Movie “Glory” was about the 54th Regiment of the Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry. The 54th Regiment of the Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry was the first group of black men who were willing to fight for their freedom in the North. Their leader, Colonel Robert Shaw, who is played by Matthew Broderick, is charged to train an undisciplined group of former slaves. Morgan Freeman played Sergeant Major John Rawlins, who was like the father figure to the group. Cary Elwes played Cabot Forbes. Private Trip, another black soldier, who was played by Denzel Washington, was a very revengeful man. There was also another soldier by the name of Thomas Searles, played by Andrew Braugher. Thomas was a highly educated black man. He was often called by the name of “snowflake,” because he was educated and acted like a white man at times.
