“Remember the ladies.” These are the famous of words of Abigail Adams, wife of senator, president, and leader John Adams. Abigail was the epitome of the saying that behind every great man is a greater woman. Abigail was her husband’s most trusted advisor through his entire political career; he never did anything without her advice and approval. If she had chosen to, she could have kept him from going over seas to France to work out a peace treaty after the revolution, or even kept him from attending continental congress that started the revolution, but she chose not to. Even though it meant separation from John, the one person she held most dear, she knew that it was best for the country that he went, and by not holding him back, she showed a great example of selflessness. This is just one of the many characteristics she had that made her a great leader. She also showed compassion, strength, and a will to do whatever she felt was right.
