An Analysis of " The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty" and "Young Goodman Brown" Theme is a very important in short stories, without a theme there is no point in a story. The themes in these two stories are the same in one way. They both are dealing with the fact that the character's are both African Americans that are very good. You can't find to many stories in a literture textbook with stories that relate to its students. You will feel like your apart of the short stories. "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" is a story about an old war veteran who is the shell scocked. Next "Young Goodman Brown is a story about a young man who has a problem with his religion. I will attempt to give you a summary of the two stories. First, In "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" Mr Mitty starts off by having his world famous flashbacks, and he talks about how his commander will take good care of his crew.
