Slavador Dali’’s, “The Persistence of Memory” is a fantastic work of art in my opinion. On first impression I was shocked at its actual size. Since I have seen it before in our art book and in print form, I thought that it would be much larger in real life. Though I was shocked at its actual size, I was amazed at the way the colors popped of the canvas as if they themselves were larger than life. I was just as impressed with how precise the shapes and edges of the painting were created. The craftsmanship was incredible. I could not imagine how small of a brush he must have used to get that tightness in his lines. The message of his painting however is told to me through the look and placement of images. The layout of the painting at first left me desiring something more to fill this lifeless bottom right corner of the image. As I thought more as to why this corner was left empty, it immediately came to me. It seemed to me that this corner was left that way to force the onlookers mind to do exactly what mine was doing, being left to interpret in wonder.
