Majority of Indians wear the traditional apparel. In modern years, the youth of the metropolitan cities have taken to western attire, however in the remainder of the country and among the older age groups, Indian clothing is very much the daily wear. The most common of all pieces of Indian attire is the ‘sari’ (basically along piece of cloth wrapped around the body). This is worn by women all over the country in it’s various adaptations in different areas. The ‘salwar kameez’(a long sleeved, loose- fitting blouse) is primarily worn in the north, as is the ‘churidar kurta’ (a flowing dress that hits under the knee along with a lengthy scarf).
