Target Vs. Wal-Mart
Today’s business environment amongst discount chain stores is extremely competitive. Two companies that are raising the bar in the competitive retail market are the Target Corporation and Wal-Mart. ...
The Target Corporation came into existence back in 1902 when George Dayton opened Goodfellows in downtown Minneapolis. Since then the company has acquired six different retail chains and changed its name in 2000 from Dayton Hudson Corporation to the Target Corporation. The company’s discount store, Target, was introduced in 1962. Target has succeeded in the discount retail chain by focusing on taking a different strategy approach than its competitors like Wal-Mart. Instead of focusing on having lower prices all the time, Target has found success in targeting more up-scale consumers that want to be able to shop in a clean, well-organized store that offers higher-end products.
