Few people get the opportunity to lead a group of fifty men in their early twenties. I was determined to grab it. I knew I had what it takes to be a successful commander as soon as I enrolled into the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). I also recognized the long-term leadership and management benefits that such a position would entail and found it an enticing challenge. My career as an officer consisted of two very different roles. As the deputy platoon commander of an artillery battery, I was in charge of planning and executing training of an artillery battery of 50 soldiers and 3 officers. As a platoon instructor in the IDF Inter-Arm Officers' School, I taught military strategy, leadership, and professional skills, as well as managed the administrative and logistic tasks. Following my service, I was offered positions in two start-up companies but I chose to pursue a formal education in Electrical Engineering at Tel Aviv University.
