The “Creation of Adam” can be admired on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Rome. It was painted by Michelangelo in the late 1400’s. The work is a scene from the book of Genesis in which God is giving life to Adam. ... In the painting God is giving life to Adam, as well He is also carrying the unborn Eve in the crook of his arm. ... Furthermore, this painting illustrates many things about Michelangelo. It shows Michelangelo’s interest in science and the human anatomy. ...
Michelangelo has interpreted parts of the stories in Genesis differently than they are written. For example, in Genesis, God creates Adam from dust and there is no mention of the transfer of the spark of life, while in the painting God is reaching out to touch Adam’s hand in order to give him this.
