Each year, millions of people are affected by serious and sometimes life-threatening eating disorders called bulimia nervosa and anorexia nervosa. People with bulimia, known as bulimics, indulge in eating large amounts of food by vomiting or using laxatives, also known as purging. People with anorexia severely limit their food intake and literally starve themselves to death. ... Males account for only 5-10% of bulimia and anorexia cases.
