Conflict is something that every one of us has faced. ... There are two types of conflict that can occur. The first, affective conflict which cannot be managed and is caused usually by an emotional, social, or personal issue, it is a the type of conflict that cannot be managed and should be avoided. The other type of conflict is Substantive conflict. ... This type of conflict, if managed correctly can be very beneficial and sometimes give a better solution to a problem. In this paper I will deminstrate an example of substantive conflict, and show how to make this beneficial, by using the compromise management technique.
Examples of substantive conflict happen all of the time and if managed properly can be beneficial. The example that I am going to use representing substantive conflict is something that has been caused much anguish and debate is between parent and child and regards “cleaning of the room.” This is a conflict that has gone on ever since I can remember, and probably will continue until the day I move out. ...
